FICTION:
Query with story posted into the body of your email. No longer than 2500 words, but we prefer shorter work. We also want writers with strong, distinct voices who tell stories that are fresh and imaginative. Unpretentious, minimalist writing that entertains first, and provokes thought later. Give us protein and carbs. Dark. Humorous. Gritty.
POETRY:
We're open minded. Paste 2-3 poems in the body of the email, or better yet, along with that, attach an audio file of your poem or poems being recited. No viruses please.
FEATURED POET
Every month we showcase a Featured Poet with his/her own page. Four to five poems, pic, and bio. If you would like to be a Featured Poet please submit using the guidelines, but in the subject box write "Featured Poet Submission".
ART:
Attach jpegs of your work, and give the details in the body of the email, title, date, dimensions, materials as well as a mission statement.
THOUGHTS:
If you have an interesting thought or perspective on something, email it, and if like it we'll add it to our Thoughts page. Try to keep it under 100 words.
Send your work to submissions@barebacklit.com and give a description in the subject box: fiction, poetry, art, or thoughts. We'll respond to you as soon as we can, usually 3-6 weeks.It is difficult to respond to everyone, so if you don’t hear from us in eight weeks, it means that unfortunately we are not interested in your submission. Nostrovia! Poetry is a small, independent press dedicated to defeating the stereotypes of poetry. So many people, especially members of my generation, apply pre-read labels to poetry, calling it "whiny and pretentious. Nostrovia! Poetry aims to change that, and broaden the audience for poetry.
